Q1 What is Physical
Therapy ?
Physical Therapy
is a licensed profession that works with clients of all ages and abilities to restore optimal physical health and function.
Whether you are born with a disability, have had an injury or surgery or simply want to improve your physical ability, Physical
Therapists apply their specialized skills to decrease pain, restore mobility and improve performance.
Exercise, education and a variety of other techniques are used
to achieve these goals.
When
you come to our clinic, we will do a thorough assessment of your problem and work with you and your doctor to establish an
individual program to meet your goals.
Q2 How
are Physical Therapists trained?
Physical Therapy education occurs at the post-graduate level with most PTs having a minimum of 6 years of University
education. Clinical internships are a large part of their training. Currently most Physical Therapy students are
graduating as Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT).
Studies focus on anatomy, biomechanics, physiology and exercise science.
Q3 Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Physical Therapist?
Colorado is a direct access state. This means that you
can see a Physical Therapist without a prescription or referral. Most insurance companies however, request one in order
to pay for these services.
Q4 Does
insurance pay for Physical Therapy?
Most insurance policies will have coverage for Physical Therapy. Each policy is different and you should
fully review your policy information. Our office also will contact your insurance company for information about your
specific coverage. Most deductibles or copayments will apply as they would for any other medical services.
Q5 How much does Physical Therapy cost?
When Physical Therapy services are billed to your insurance
company, specific codes are used to describe the treatments provided by your therapist. These codes typically represent
15 minutes of treatment. So for each visit you will see a number of codes reflecting the services rendered and the duration
of time. eg. if you had a one hour treatment you would see up to 4 codes.
Each code is priced differently. Depending on which codes
your therapist selects to describe your treatment session, the price will vary. We are also contracted with a number
of insurance companies, and rates will vary based on our contracts with them.
Please call out office for more specific pricing.
Q5 What
does it mean if your clinic is In Network or Out of Network?
In Network refers to a contract that our clinic has with your insurance company or their Preferred Provider Organization
that provides you with assurance of quality and a contractually determined fee that can be charged for our services.
Out of Network means that
our clinic is not contracted with your insurance company. There are only a few companies that we are not contracted
with and includes Blue Cross Blue Shield and Ski Company Worker's compensation.
We are not contracted with the first two because it is not cost effective
for us. Since we see only one client per hour at a time, their reimbursement rates do not cover costs. Many clinics
see two to four patients per hour and use assistants which allows them to bill more per hour. We refuse to do this and
so reluctantly gave up these contracts that we held for many years.
We are not providers for Ski Company Worker's compensation because despite serving the Roaring Fork Valley for over
13 years, we have never been given the opportunity. We have contacted Ski Co on a number of occasions and have never
been given consideration to become a provider.
Q6 Do
you bill my insurance company for me?
Yes. Personal Rehabilitation will bill your insurance for you. Our billing services are on site allowing
us to answer questions promptly and prevent any surprises about your bill for service.
Q7 I have a workers compensation claim, can I come to your clinic?
Yes. We are providers for Pinnacol Assurance and other
worker's compensation insurance companies. You always have a choice of therapists or clinics that you would like to
attend.
